The Taylorsville City parade and Taylorsville Dayzz form a good example of how diversity and working together build strong community ties. Taylorsville Dayzz began as a celebration of the anniversary of their incorporation as a city. It is a way to represent the unity and accomplishments of the small city, celebrating the happy people and their willingness to volunteer.
Members of the community including city representatives, sports teams, church groups, and individuals volunteered their time to make this event a success.
A Miss Anna Bjork participated in the parade as one of the students representing Hunt’s Gymnastics, “I had lots of fun because I knew my family was supporting me and I had a good time doing cartwheels.”
Floods of people came to participate in the many activities: kids clambered to be first on the carnival rides, crowds gathered hungrily at the food stands, crowds surrounded the stage cheering at the many free concerts, and many spectators gazed at the massive explosion of fireworks.
“I had a great time,” said resident Lucy Smith, “I participated in my first ever 5K run and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful route, which bends around secluded canals and neighborhoods. And when I finished a huge crowd of people stood there and cheered each of the runners as they raced to the finish line.”
For three days the thrill of Taylorsville Dayzz went on, a different guest star sang each night, and at the end a different array of fireworks. Taylorsville is so well known for its spectacular fireworks that families came from miles around just to see them.
Mrs. Linda Bjork had this to say about the firework show, “We saw the fireworks, which are the best in the Valley. They coordinated the fireworks with music broadcast on large speakers. That is our very favorite part of Taylorsville Dayzz.”
Taylorsville Dayzz was enjoyed by the residents throughout the Salt Lake Valley.
“I love Taylorsville Dayzz!” said McKayla Medico, “I can’t wait for it to start again next year!”
