No senioritis in the halls of North Kingstown. Instead, the Class of 2009 has begun a new trend of “Fun Fridays”. Every Friday a new plan is devised, often by senior Kenneth Lush and spread by word of mouth throughout the school with help from seniors Sarah Pease, Nathanael Hines, Joel Newbolt, and Catherine Brennan. So far there has been a wide variety of things happening:

·         Day Two, Third Lunch Picnics

o   Food was brought in to follow the theme of the day (i.e. “White” or “Italian”)

o   Picnic events included wheelbarrow and crabwalk races

·         Eye Patch Day

o   An  eye patch could be brought from home and worn

o   Hines and Pease could cut out a makeshift eye patch from an old black shirt

·         Crutch Day

o   Seniors were to bring in and use crutches to get out of classes early and clog hallways and elevators

·         Senior Freeze Day

o   Seniors in the spine froze completely as underclassmen walked back to class from lunch

·         Name Tag Day

o   Pease, Hines, Newbolt and others handed out name tag stickers that stated “Hello, My Name Is ______” and seniors filled in the blanks with whatever they wanted

§  Examples: Hello, My Name Is…

·         Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die.

·         Bill Nye the Science Guy

·         Chuck Norris

·         Lush In Recycling Bin

o   Crouched in the plastic box, Lush jumped out to scare and surprise underclassmen as they walked to class from their fourth lunch

·         Early Dismissal

o   Seniors (and juniors who can drive) all tried to find excuses to allow the school to let them go home and start February vacation early

·         Crown Day

o   Seniors who had the opportunity to go to Burger King (or BK) were to wear their crowns around school for the day.

·         Kid on Shirt Day

o   Seniors researched a randomly selected freshman, took a photo of him, and put it on their shirts to wear to school.

o   They waited outside his last period class to raise him on their shoulders, cheer, give him a shirt and crown of his own, and ask him to sign their shirts.
