This, unfortunately, is the normal amount of enthusiasm shown by many Shelton students, even at pep rallies.

In recent years, several Shelton activities have been canceled due to lack of school spirit. Casino Night was canceled last year. Charger Days were stomped on. Powder Puff: poof, it’s gone. Movie Night: The End. Europe Trip: Arrividerci. Blood drive: dried up. And the Senior garage sale? Out of business. Maybe not all the activities sound fun, but activities are only as entertaining as we make them.
For example, was it really that bad to come to school so you could go bowling or go play whirlyball with your whole grade, to bond and get to know each other? There were so many complaints that they decided to change Charger Days from fun events such as going off to bowl or playing whirlyball, to Career Day. Career Day isn’t bad; it’s just that the focus is not on fun anymore, it’s on learning. If there is more complaining about it, they might cancel Charger Day altogether.
If students don’t have more school spirit, more activities will be canceled. So please, Shelton students, get some spirit. Let’s make Shelton more fun. Like I said, school’s only as fun as you make it. It’s your school life. Half the battle is showing up. So come on Shelton, show up! You’ll have fun once you get there.
