The Chargers fell flat on their face in the first game of the season on Friday, losing to the number one ranked small private school in the area, Arlington Oakridge 53-22.  Shelton got a fast start out of the gate, forcing a fumble on the Owls second play of the game, but tripped up, giving the ball right back on the very next play.  After giving up three Oakridge touchdowns, Shelton got on the board with a 12 yard touchdown catch by Brett Pettigrew that was set up by 51 yard catch and run by Thomas Triplett to makeit 19-6.  The Owl offense didn’t take their foot off the gas, scoring three more touchdowns before halftime to make it 46-6.  The Chargers faredbetter in the second half, allowing only one touchdown by the Owls and scoringon runs of 71 and 72 yards by Alyn Jackson, but it was too little too late.  The Owls were led by their duo of BYU bound seniors, quarterback Teu Kauti, five rushes for 65 yards and a touchdown, and nationally ranked receiver Ross Apo who had three catches for 59 yards and a punt return for a touchdown.  Alyn Jackson led the way for the Chargers with 16 carries for 212 yards and two touchdowns.  The Chargers aim to fare better next week when they travel to Plano to play the Cougars of Canyon Creek Christian Academy.
