How to use this tutorial:

Go to the bottom of this page and click on the first picture. The picture you clicked on will go to single view. Click on "View original", which is next to the picture. This will open a new window with an enlarged version of the picture. If it is still small, click on it with your mouse to enlarge it. When you are done with the steps shown in the first picture just continue this process on the next picture.

Helpful hints:
1. When changing the opacity, selecting a certain mode for a tool, or changing the colors, those options can be found at the top of the screen under the toolbar.

2. If you make a selection, and you find that you did not select everything you need to, take the selection tool and shift drag the box until your selection is completed. Many times you will see that the selection tool will not select the very outside boarder on a picture, this is ok.

3. When working on a picture make sure your window is big enough so there is some grey margin showing. This allows you to make more accurate selections.

4. When changing tool type, (ex. Switching from the gradient tool to the paint bucket) click and hold on the icon to view the different tools. Icons that have more than one tool have a little black triangle in the bottom right corner.

5. The “make a new layer” and blending options for layers is located on the right lower side of the screen next to your layer selection. To merge layers right click on your layers and select “merge layers” or “merge visible”.

Tool locations:
Any tool that might be under other tools will be listed here.

- Paint bucket and gradient tool
The gradient tool is located on top of the paint bucket tool.

- Magnetic lasso is underneath the lasso tool.

Jeff, I am so happy you are doing this feature! I would like to know how to change a color photo to a black and white pen and ink sketch using Photoshop.
