The Class of 2013 knows that being a fish can be fun if you get involved.
The life of a freshman is pretty vague and ordinary during the first few weeks of high school, unless you spice it up yourself.  If you don’t, you will be unable to see what is fun out there. Trying to fit into the new environment and adjust to the new rules can be pretty frustrating, but if you really look and seek help, you might be amazed at what you will find.   I asked a good friend of mine, Chandler Crumblish, her thoughts and she said, “Freshman year is pretty crucial and uptight the first few weeks since you’re the newcomer in this whole place.  But if you keep your mind open, there are a lot of good points that you can look forward to this year that you weren’t able to even think of the years before.”  When I asked other freshmen what are things to look forward to, they simply just stated “Homecoming, Winter Formal, and more LEEWAY.”  Which brings me to my next topic, Homecoming.  For those of you who think it is just a waste of your time, I want to give you some advice. I know that some of you might think that Homecoming is dumb, but in fact that is the true place you get to interact with your peers and really are able to have fun, whereas in Middle School, you were treated like a kid. So if you are a freshman here at Shelton, just make time for some fun activities.  Actually go to events and try activities so you’ll know if you truly like it or not.

Wonderful article. I agree with Jonathan - get involved, expand your horizons, and enlarge your territory. You might be surprised. Fish - keep up the good work.

I think what Jonathan said for sure explains what high school is like. i thought it was going to be difficult, and it's challenging, but something i can handle. i love being in high school and i can't wait to step into my sophomore year next year.

Very good article. I'm sorry that you were all treated like kids in Middle School. You should have been treated like octogenarians.
