The Varsity girls' basketball team has played their best season yet, pulling down twice as many wins.  From start to finish, each girl pulled her weight in contributing great amounts of hard work, uplifting comments, and above all, baskets. The girls made average of 75% of their baskets from the free throw line, while their opponents scored 225 less.  This season was unfortunately not free of injures.  The first player to make it on the injured list was Marisa, a senior captain, by twisting her ankle during a game, leaving it mildly injured for the rest of the season.  Next to be checked off the list was Meredith, a junior, who tore a ligament and busted a blood vessel, officially ending her season. Following close behind was Arabella, a sophomore, who also tore a ligament.  Her injury ended her season, but it’s possible she’ll be back next year. Though there were many crucial injuries, the rest of the team stepped up and played through it.  With Arabella and Meredith out, two freshmen, Mason and Tori, were obtained from the practice squad.  Both of the freshman played amazing games. The girls mastered the art of defense by shutting down the big players, not to mention frustrating them, causing the offense to resort to lesser players.

This year, the team had a never-ending wave of praise from opposing coaches, who stated how they wished their girls played as hard, and intense throughout four quarters without ever giving up. They continued, even though their team has many talented players, they wanted their girls to have our teams' heart and tenacity, something a coach can’t teach in a drill. Coach Rutledge once said during a pre-game speech, "If heart and improvement counted as wins, we would be undefeated." Within the district, heart and improvement is the Varsity girls’ reputation.  The Varsity girls have never failed to surprise and awe the on lookers, which always leaves them with curiosity for next year.
