Shelton Scores A Homecoming Win!
A bittersweet moment for Senior Captains Ben, John, and Max - Paul Atkinson
On September 28, Shelton Chargers defeated Prince of Peace with a 35-14 win.  The Chargers were extremely pumped up for this game as it was not only Homecoming but also their first district game.  The Chargers were firing on all cylinders right from the opening kickoff with a 45 yard kick return by Ben Luedtke.  Not soon after that the band was playing as Rich Morton ran in his first touchdown of the night on the opening drive. This had the Eagles playing from behind the entire game.  At halftime the score was 14-7.  Even though the rain continued through most of the game, it seemed to lessen during the halftime festivities when King Max Cassidy and Queen Ashley Dunayer were announced.  The field was filled with proud parents, students and graduates.  After the exciting halftime announcements the Eagles had one glimpse of coming back as they scored on their first drive of the second half.  But this was soon countered by two Charger touchdowns in the third quarter. Trey McDowell put the game completely out of reach in the 4th quarter with his first touchdown of his career with two minutes to go.  The defense played a huge part in the victory as they shut down the Eagles run game and kept them out of the endzone.  John DiCaro had a huge game with over twenty tackles. Rich Morton had a break-out game and exploded for 238 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns. This was a big win for the Chargers as they head farther into district play.
