Twenty Three McGill Toolen Catholic High School Students were named as AP Scholars by the College Board's Advanced Placement Program. Those AP Scholars who are seniors at McGill are: (front) Catherine Root, Katie Wilson, Caroline McDonald, Shannon Donaldson, Chelsea Boudon, (back) Jake Spaulding, Gilbert Pierre, Jed Dyas, Nick Aguirre and Grant Daly.
Four graduates were in the highest category of Scholar with Distinction. They are Joseph Cortopassi, Gregory Michener, Bridget Pardue and Haley Sledge. A student qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

Katy Wilson won the designation of Scholar with Honor while all the other seniors achieved Scholar status. To qualify as an AP Scholar with Honor a student must earn an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. The graduates who achieved this honor are Kelly Bunting, Barry Rehm, Sarah Roveda, David Sheffield and Lauren Stevens.

Twelve students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with grade of 3 or higher. The seniors who are AP Scholars are: Nicholas Aguirre, Matthew Bach, Chelsea Bourdon, Grant Daly, Shannon Donaldson, Jed Dyas, Caroline McDonald, Gilbert Pierre, Catherine Root and Jacob Spaulding. Three graduates who are AP Scholars are: Rachael Fowler, Elizabeth O'Gorman, and Emily Scammell.

The College Board's Advanced Placement Program (AP) provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. About 18 percent of the nearly 1.7 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.

McGill Toolen Catholic High School offers twelve Advanced Placement Courses. Mrs. Robin Brown, AP Coordinator and Guidance Counselor, said that approximately eighteen percent of the student body is enrolled in at least one AP Course. Last year 141 students took at least one AP Exam.
