McGill-Toolen's Homecoming week has come and gone, but the best thing about it was the Homecoming game. Our game was a blow out, but that doesn't take away from the fact that you could not have fun and get loud. Excluding the recent rival Murphy games against McT, I have never heard a louder student section at a high school football game. There was standing room only even 35 minutes before kickoff.

This game was the last Homecoming game for our 29 senior football players, but they played it like there was no tomorrow. Early in the game, the Yellow Jackets gave up some very costly 20+ yard plays to the Baldwin County offense. but the Tigers could only score 20 points. On the positive side, McT answered with 5 touchdowns. McGill's Lance Watson had the first TD on a five yard run into the end zone. Preston Messer went air-mail for the Yellow Jackets by completing over 60% of his passes for 4 TD's and more than 150 passing yards for the night. Not to leave out our defense., The created four turnovers making them one of the most ferocious defenses in 6A Region 2. As usual, Coach Dean was loud and helping the referees to make the call go his way.

Now there was much more than just the football game on the cool, Friday night. During halftime, the homecoming court was introduced. It was also Senior Night for all of the seniors departing and heading off for the fraternities and sororities at many of the different colleges across the nation. For some it was their first homecoming game as a Jacket, and for others it was their last, but this one is never to be forgotten.
