The results are in. The matches are made, but so are the lists of students who have little in common.
On Feb. 9, five days before Valentine’s Day, WFHS students and even some faculty received the results of their computerized matches. Beginning in late January students filled out list of questions about their preferences.
As many as three fourths of the student body were willing to take a chance at love, a computerized version that is. As has become an annual tradition, students are writing down their likes as well as dislikes on a survey that they hope will point them to their true love or next best friend.
Questions on the Data-Match included, how do you get your spending money? What makes you most upset? What type of party do you like best? And what is the perfect age to be?
Some students are hoping to find someone new, while others hope that their match will turn out to be their current sweetheart.
Senior Hannah Milton said she thought it would be interesting to see who her matches are. She says she’s hoping for her match to be someone different. “It’s a good way for students to get to know other students.” She said.
In contrast Kendra Parsons said that she just wanted to find out if her current boyfriend was her match. “I wanted to know if Dalton (Farrar) is my match.”
Isaac Fredricks, a freshman, thought it’d be kind of fun to see who he got matched up with.
When the matches came in Milton said that she was okay with her results and that it was cool seeing who she is like and have the same interests as her.
Fredricks thought that his results were “pretty amusing.” But he also said that he wouldn’t change the way he answered the survey questions.
Parsons was excited with her matches. Second on her list of compatible males was boyfriend Dalton Farrar.
For many people finding out who their “matches” were can be exciting. For others it’s disappointing.
“Last year I liked it better because I had people on my list that I actually liked. But this year I hardly knew anyone.” Said junior Dakota Steele, adding that many of her matches this year were freshmen.
