With Principal Williams assuring us that “ students will keep their off campus freedom” it seems that students will in deed keep their freedom.
Many students felt that these newly placed parking gates will limit the choices of foods available during lunch.
However three of the most popular choices for underclassmen are still within walking distance.
With Elmer’s, Little Caesar’s and of course the healthiest place around: Jack in the Box, freshman, sophomores and juniors can order their $5-dollar-pizza or cheese burro with out having to stress over worrying about being late from driving too far.
The biggest complaint however has been from seniors, which if they played their cards right should have a half day.
Seniors who do not have a half day aren’t even allowed to drive to the ever popular Basha’s parking lot for the wide array of food.
So where’s the argument? Only a third of our population actually drive to school, and most of them now do not have classes past lunch therefore have no need to complain.
“We feel students have as much freedom as they ever had,” Williams said.
Out of the four seniors on our staff, all four have full schedule’s and have come to the conclusion that walking across the street or down in the courtyard isn’t that big of a deal.
We feel that the lines seem longer at the closest favorites and with the cafeteria serving nearly 1500 students everyday, nearly half the student body, lines seem neverending.
The underclassmen on staff do not have cars and all of them choose to stay on campus eating hamburgers, fries, pizza, nachos and salads.
Another complaint for students is the lack of variety on campus. This, of course, is not a very good argument considering what’s available immediately off campus: hamburgers, french fries, pizza, nachos and salads.
The parking gate situation may be keeping students on campus, but it is saving lives. There hasn’t been an accident since they’ve been put in place.
And we feel that saving lives is a good thing. Even if we have to wait an extra ten minutes in line on campus and not ten minutes driving off campus for the same food.
