Nathan DuChesne joins our faculty and coaching staff after one year as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Portland State University. A graduate from Snohomish High School, Mr. DuChesne then attended the University of Montana and earned his degree in Secondary Education. He is teaching US History and Freshman English at MVHS.

After an interview with him I learned more about our new Boys Basketball team Head Coach. He also was the Assistant Coach at the University of Montana for three years before taking the Assistant Coaching job at PSU.

One thing that some people might not know is that Ms. Biggs and Mr. DuChesne attended the same elementary and same high school in Snohomish. Ms. Biggs also got him interested in the job here at MVHS and the Vancouver area. He decided to come to Mountain View because he lives in Vancouver and enjoys teaching and coaching students at the high school level. After his first few months here he really likes the faculty, administrators and the students at Mountain View. He thinks that Mountain View is a good a place and is enjoying his time here.

He enjoys spending his free time with his family, participating in activities such as running and bike riding. Mr. DuChesne likes to be outdoors and be active in his free time. He has a wife, Paula, and three children; Luke, Emma, and Maya. Two of them attend Mountain View and one is at Fisher’s Landing Elementary.

When I asked him about how he thinks the team will be this year, he said, "It’s too early to tell, but we plan to play hard and play together." This is a good sign for the future and hopefully another successful year for boy’s basketball. If you want to play for the Thunder Boys Basketball team then you should start playing to get in shape and be able to play hard and play together to have another successful season.
