One of New Zealands 2.83 million voters is a dog, Toby the Jack Russel terrier. Toby became a registered voter when his owner filled out a form in his dog's name. On the form the owner put that the dog worked as

a "rodent exterminator," and that he was 28 years old. He signed his name with a squiggle and Toby's paw print. The owner was shocked when he got the confirmation of the dog's enrollment in the electorate. The manager of the electoral enrollment center said he was more angry than amused. Especially since the dog's application had slipped through the checking system. He said the dog's owner could be charged with misleading a registar of electors . The dog in the end choose not to vote.
