Freshmen-Senior buddy week began on September 8th. During Freshman-Senior week, Freshmen sign up for a Senior buddy to show them around the school. The partners participate in multiple games in the quad at lunch, while getting to know each other as well. Some of the games played included musical chairs, water balloon toss, and sponge relay. At the end of the week, participants were treated to pizza.

Musical chairs is a game where people run around chairs in a circle with music playing, and when the music stops, contestants must sit down. The last person standing is out. Senior, Tristan Howard and his buddy won the lunch-time activity of musical chairs. “I liked musical chairs because everyone cheated and whenever anyone got out they would argue with ASB,” commented Joe Larrea. The water balloon toss is a game where partners throw one water balloon back and forth to be the last team with their balloon intact. Senior, Elaine Nye and her buddy, Imelda Melchor, came in third place in the water balloon toss. In the sponge relay, each a team takes a wet sponge from a bucket filled with water, runs to the other end, and squeezes the water out of the sponge and into an empty bucket until it’s full.

Most of the people that participated in Freshmen-Senior buddy week had a good time and got to know new people. Freshmen-Senior buddy week is meant to help Freshmen come out of their shells and get adjusted to high school life. Senior, Heaven Starks said about her buddy, “She’s like a baby version of me. We had a lot in common. We hung out until the bell rang and then I walked her to class.” Not everyone had a good time during this week. One Senior commented, “I went to go find my buddy who later abandoned me for Michael Neumann.” Another Senior, Joe Larrea, said, “I stood on the stage and waited for my buddy to show up. Then I found out that he was absent that day.” Although some participants did not have such a wonderful time, it was a good opportunity for Freshmen and Seniors to participate in a memorable experience.
