Our school cancellation
and make-up day policies have been around for several years. Some people agree
with it with others do not.
The policy for cancellation is that if the
weather does not permit safe transportation, there will be a delay or cancellation,
depending on the severity of conditions. If a cancellation does occur, it will
be made up on a previously designated day.
Senior
John Bonivich and sophomore Brian Ishee do not like the policy.
Bonivich said that, if he could make
changes to the policy, he would make it so we could have five days cancelled
and not make them up. He said that this is the way it is done in Ohio, and it
would be a good idea to apply here.
Ishee said that his change to the
policy would be to give “at least two free days before you have to make up
canceled days.”
Neither of the two feels that we
should have to make up either cancellations or two-hour delays.
Spanish instructor Mrs. Stoner said
that she would not change the cancellation policy because it is fair. However,
Mrs. Stoner also thinks that it would be a good idea to make up two-hour
delays.
