With summer being just around the corner, many are impatiently waiting for the opportunity to jump into the pool. Along with sun-kissed skin and silky smooth hair comes much maintenince. Dry skin, chapped lips, damaged hair, and freckles are all beauty problems that are commonly complained about during the dog days of summer.
Deciding to go for a dip in the pool everyday can be great exercise, but one must think about the damage the chlorine could do to hair.  In fact, blondes who swim too often in the chlorine may turn the hair a slightly green color. For those who are not blonde, one’s hair may become brittle and knots may form easier, not to mention the smell that never seems to go away.
“Make sure you wash your hair a lot and keep it well-conditioned so it doesn’t become gross feeling,” says senior swimmer, Grace Kehler. According to ehow.com, a tip for eliminating this problem is to wear a swim cap (no matter how silly they may look). If swim caps are not an option, try soaking hair in the shower or a sink in order to prevent much of the harsh chemicals from entering the hair follicles. Also, regular conditioning treatments and washing with a special shampoo will also help in the long run.
Another common issue among those who enjoy the outdoors and that beautiful summer glow is dry skin.
“A great way to prevent dry skin is to make sure you moisturize your body every time you jump out of the shower,” says Tan Lines employee and senior Kylee Guillen. Using moisturizing body lotions and body washes and moisturizers with an SPF of at least 30 will help reduce the effect of wrinkles and dry skin.
Keeping oneself beautiful is a daily project for men and women. In order to keep  hair and skin looking in tip top shape, simply take care of it and don’t expose it to too many harsh chemicals or UV rays and looking young will not be an issue.
