Off to a 2-2 start, the Vikes football

team is a perfect .500 on the season.

They hope to avenge last year’s loss to

the Emporia Spartans tonight.

“ I feel pretty good [about tonight’s

game] but we can’t have mistakes.

Emporia is a good team. We have

to bring our A game,” said Assistant

Coach Mike Lincoln.

“It’s high school football, anything

can happen,” he continued. “They could

get the momentum, then it could change

and we could have it.”

In last Friday’s game, the Vikes

were able to outlast the rainy weathy

and their opponent as they beat their

Hayden rivals, 28-20.

The players were excited for many

reasons. First, they always like to defeat

the Wildcats. But the players also won a

bet against Coach Lincoln.

The prize? Lincoln lost his famous

mustache.
