The Vikings are hosting the annual Seaman Relays tomorrow.
With the first three meets over, the boys cross country team finished ninth in Manhattan, fourth at the Topeka West and had a DNF (did not finish) for only having four runners run at the meet in Bonner Springs.
“We are not as strong as I’d like them to be. I’m very optimistic about how well we will improve throughout the season,” said Meyer. “One thing we need to focus on at practice is being more consistent.”
The lack of consistency hasn’t affected the mood of the coach toward his team. Meyer said, “I love my cross country runners.”
On the girls side of cross country, the team finished seventh in Manhattan, third in the Topeka West Inv. and eighth Bonner Springs.
Coach Brading said, “We are very young team that is improving on a weekly basis. Ramsey McCarter has established herself as one of the best runners in the state. Kelsie Wenger and Carleigh Conrade are not far behind McCarter.
Brading said, “It’s a process for many girls to get to where they’re competitive.”
