It’s the time of year when limos are being rented, tuxedos and dresses are being bought, and everyone’s looking for that special someone to spend their evening with. Yes, it’s prom season! Many people’s answers may vary as to what part of prom is their favorite, but almost everyone can agree that seeing the girls in their beautiful dresses is high up there!

There’s so many dress styles out there that it’s hard to pin-point exactly what types of dresses will be out there on the dance floor this year. Although, www.davidsbridal.com has tried to give a heads up as what the top trends are this year under their Top Trends of Prom 2012 tab.

According to www.davidsbridal.com the trends are “Show-stopping full & flowing skirts with multiple tiers, layers of tulle ruffles and pick-ups are guaranteed to turn heads.” Also, bling is back and you can expect to see many dresses jeweled from head to toe.

A very unique look is also in style this year; dresses with high-low hemlines. They’re kind of like the classy mullet, short in the front and long in the back. So you can expect the best of both worlds with this kind of dress. The always-beautiful short dresses are still in style this year too, a look that never fades.

This year a major hit is also the one-strap dress. It’s a very elegant look that also adds support, unlike the strapless dresses. Prints are also a major hit this year, the crazier the better. The prints just spice up the dress and make it fun!

“I can’t wait to see all the different types of dresses this year! I think it’ll be fun to see who shows up in what,” said junior Erinn Steere.
