Ground breaking of the new building - Rickey Bass
On Saturday, November 19, Christian Academy celebrated the Ground Breaking of the new school building at 291 Ron McNair Blvd. It seems like it has been an eternity, but construction on the new school building has finally started.
There have been many hick-ups along the way but according to Miss Bowers, the projected completion date is September 2012. That means that it will take about nine months to complete the actual building. The new school will 40,000 square foot school on 16 acres of land. This will include 18 multimedia classrooms with science and computer labs, a fine arts classroom, media center, a kitchen and dinning facility, and a gymnasium. There will also be several athletic fields including a soccer/football stadium and even a baseball diamond. It has taken so much to get this far. Some of the most influential factors in the new school building include first and foremost prayer, a dedicated board of trustees, and fundraising to get money for a loan. The banking industry and economy have taken a hard hit in the recent years, so the project is delayed by two years. However, with the help God, the project is now back on schedule.
The timing of the Groundbreaking could not have been better. The student attendance has increased exponentially in the last four years. There are currently 273 students enrolled in grades K through 12. The school has outgrown its current location and all others before it. It seems that every year, more and more students come to CA. With the new school building, CA will be able to expand and add to the basic building as needed. The idea of Ca having its own building is very exciting. The possibilities are endless. Ever since 1996, Christian Academy has been providing an education for the Grand Strand area that is not only firmly rooted in Christianity, but also challenging in the academic area. No one knows what the future of CA holds, but with the new school building coming its looks so good.
Miss Bowers asked that the family and friends of Christian Academy pray for the construction to go smoothly and quickly and for donations to retire the debt in five years.
