Teacher Joy Perry - Paul Perry

Joy Perry, a teacher who has been with CA for 13 years, gave me the inside scoop on her connection with the school. Perry said, “I have been employed with CA for 13 years, I began as a part time middle school math teacher, then I went to more hours -still part time but added teaching each class computers once a week (K-8), and after adding high school I went to teaching middle and high math and dropped teaching computers but stayed involved as the Technology Coordinator. Currently I am a full time teacher of middle and high school math and Technology Coordinator.” Her journey with CA began on looking for a part time job when her oldest son (Carlton) was still young. But, she believed God was only using His perfect timing. In response to being asked about what she feel is different about CA, she replied, “You are treated as God’s creation instead of a just someone filling in a teaching position.” While talking to Mrs. Perry she talked about how what she feels is the best way to improve our school, she said, “I believe we are and will experience growing pains- we need to look ahead and be best prepared to handle more students in a new building without losing our family atmosphere.” Joy Perry has invested countless hours with the school and has been a part of it from (close to) the beginning. I asked, Mrs. Perry what is the first word or phrase that comes to mind when thinking of Christian Academy, Perry said, “a family.” A family is what this school’s atmosphere is and will continue striving to be.
