Roseville High School art teacher Joyce Henry and her art classes have begun their earth art project, where students participate in creating art using nature as their tool.

Earth art was an art movement which emerged in America in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s in which the artist links landscape and art together. Many of the first works of earth art created were in the deserts of Nevada, New Mexico, Utah or Arizona.

The art classes are put into groups and assigned locations on campus places, such as senior square, the amphitheatre, and the 900 buildings.

The teams had two days to create and plan their creations and get a visual of their final product. They used only organic materials like grass, leafs, bark, dirt, and flowers to create their project.
“Most of the students enjoy it and Ms. Henry thinks it’s a good experience,” said junior Ramon Puente.

The students come up with their own ideas of what to create. The creations portrayed something that shows an environmentally friendly state.

“I think that it is something different and a fun experience,” said Henry.
