A hole in the 900 East building is still awaiting repair.

Many students have seen the three by two inch hole right before they walk up the staircase.

"One way that it could be repaired, is to put plywood behind it and fill it with drywall compound," said Christopher Grimes the Director of Facilities Development for RJUHSD.

The hole will take four to five days to repair. The first day, the wall must be cut open to install new plywood and then a coat of drywall compound will be applied over the plywood. Once the wall is dry, a couple more coats of drywall will be applied and a few days later it can be painted and left to dry.

The maintenance costs approximately $10 and the maintenance department will pay for it unless someone was convicted of creating the hole as a crime, in which case the perpetrator would have to pay for the damages.

Freshman Kaylee Justice is among students who see it almost every day. Justice believes repairing it is important.

“It makes our campus look bad and it should be repaired quickly,” said Justice.

Assistant principal Jon Coleman does not think it is a large issue, but it adds to accidents that have already occurred this year.

“It would be nice if students have more respect for their school and campus,” said Coleman.

The repair date has not been set yet.
