The 38 annual March for Life took place on January 24.

The March for Life is a protest in Washington, D.C. presented by people all over the country who are pro-life.

Petitioners started at the mall and marched up towards Capitol Hill.

Franklin students decided that they wanted to participate in the march.

“To prepare for the march, Sara Easterling and I helped to get a group of juniors and seniors together that went with the Mother of Sorrows Youth Group,” said senior Megan Cala.

Cala and Easterling organized a group of 25 Franklin students to participate in the march.

“I was inspired to become part of the March for Life because I’ve heard so much about it! It was brought up during youth group one night and I thought it was a wonderful opportunity to show my support for the cause,” said Cala. “This was my first year attending the march, but it definitely won’t be my last because it was such an awesome experience. Just being around all those people who were all advocating for pro-life cause was pretty neat.”

Others joined for separate reasons.

“Evan Eldridge got me involved in it,” said senior Andrew Roberge.
“I joined the March for Life because of my was pretty neat!”

“I joined the march for life because of my religion.” said another senior student, Dominic Vaevitti.

He said that his youth group played a big role in putting together the March for Life, and that it would be very convenient to become a part of it.

According to the official March for Life website, www.marchforlife.com, about 400,000 people were present at the March for Life this year.

The website also states that the March for Life has been around for a few years.

The first March for Life took place on January 22, 1974.

Many found the petition to be affective, including Vaevitti.

He believes that this is because of the amount of people at the petition.

“I’ve never seen so many people in one place before.” said Vaevitti.

“I think it will be beneficial because there is a lot of power in numbers.

When such a massive amount of people gather in the peaceful way that they do during the March for Life, only positive things can come from it.” said Cala.
