Hundreds of people gathered around the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn on April 21st to oppose the preaching of one controversial Florida Pastor, Terry Jones. Jones had planned for April 22nd against what he calls “radical Islam”. But the protest never happened. Many different religions, nationalities, and participants linked together to form a human shield around the building.

Jones and his associate, Pastor Wayne Sapp, were both prosecuted for breach of the peace. Their bonds were set by the judge for one dollar each. Rather than paying the peace bond, both men spent the Friday in jail, but later paid the bond and were released.

On March 20, 2011, Jones presided over a mock trial of the Quran at his small church in Gainesville, Florida. The holy text was found "guilty" of “crimes” by a mock jury composed mainly of church members; after which a Quran was burned. On April 1st 2011, upon hearing the news, protesters in Afghanistan angered at Jones' burning of a Quran, attacked the United Nations Assistance Mission, killing at least 30 people, including at least seven U.N. workers and injuring at least 150 people. Jones disclaimed any responsibility for the killings which resulted in 5 days of protests.

Jones has a $1.2 million bounty on his head from a Pakistan terrorist organization, and a $2 million bounty from a Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, because of his actions, Jones still plans on hosting a rally in the near future.
