Skateboarding

Sports Pod

Remember the feeling of getting your first skateboard? Or the feeling of the first time you rode one. The adrenaline jolting through your veins. Of course you loved it. Here are three boys at Sierra Vista who love skating more than anything.

CJ Osorio, who finds skateboarding a fun and exhilarating passion, started skating in 4th grade. His inspiration was his dad, who always said that CJ would enjoy skating eventually. He wants to be a pro skater when he grows up, because he thinks it is a fun and easy job to get paid for, and you also get free stuff. His idol is Christian Hosoi, because he watched his documentary in 5th grade, and loved his style of skating. He usually skates with Evan Strother, Brenden Silva, and Stephen Hain at Canyon High school, Saugus High school, the Skate Park, and Pedlow. “I think it’s stupid that stores don’t allow us to skate in front of the building or in the parking lot. I do it anyway.” CJ says.

Hayden Valadez says he looked up to his cousin when he was little who used to skate. Therefore, he started skating 1 ½ years ago, because he thinks its fun. Hayden feels skaters are judged with negative notation because a lot of people think skaters are rebels who do not listen to their parents, or do bad stuff; most  of the time, he skates outside with Albert Llamas, Jason Rodriguez, and Will Franklin.  He mostly looks up to Danny Way because he does crazy stunts and Paul Rodriguez because he is nice and has a great style.  Hayden thinks the city should build more areas for people to skate, so they don’t have to intrude in on other places. He says, “I’d love to skate with Brenden Beibel because he’s super chill and he could teach me new tricks.”

Next up, is Jason Rodriguez. The kid who will make you laugh no matter what mood you are in. says skating is a bundle of fun. His inspiration is Nathan Salib, and his idol is Steven Loupe, because he can skate and BMX at the same time. Crazy stuff. His favorite tricks are Olli and Nolley 360 hard flip. He especially likes to wear Lakai and Plan B when he skates; Jason says he would enjoy skating with Mikey Taylor, because he’s so chill. Well obviously, these kids found something they truly love to do, because they still skate to this day. So, if you have never gotten on a skateboard or ever even thought of it, you should most definitely try it, seriously. It’s time.
