                                                         Knowledge anyone?

One stands at one end of the quad, holding their lunch tray, examining the crowd. On one end, the jocks and cheerleaders giggling at something unknown. But on the other side are the different sections of the marching band laughing at something, because Ben Hollander made a joke. Standing tall above the rest, there is also Tate Hollander, the college student coming to visit. So, you head over there. It seems much more fun and real than hanging out with the cheerleaders, who would probably take advantage of you.

When Ben Hollander was asked, one wonders what is the true high school experience. And he responded, “In junior high the classes rotated, but in high school the classes stay the same,” During his past high school years, he never got lost easily. “I always knew where my classes were!” He stated. Ben Hollander plays percussion for the Canyon Gold Star Brigade (the marching band) He said, “My favorite field show is called

The Planets. We will be doing it this year.”

In contrast, Tate Hollander is a freshman at CSUN (Cal State University of Northridge) He also was in marching band in high school. He said, “Band was my favorite class I got to see my friends first thing in the morning!” Tate is taking seven classe; Piano, Musicianship, Your Career in Music, Public Speaking, Psychology and Astronomy. Although he wasn’t nervous on the first day of college, Tate was on the first day of high school. “It was scary! All of the older kids in high school were intimidating.”

High school is full of different personalities and cliques. Ben and Tate explain who they wanted to be, and were not afraid of being made fun of for being in AP classes or marching band. What will you make of high school? Will you be yourself, or try to impress people? Your choice.
