Last month we introduced you to our new Middle School teacher, Mr. Herrera. This month we wanted to add to that introduction with some thoughts from actual students who sit in his classroom day after day.
The first person I interviewed, was Melissa Z. (seventh grade). I asked her what she thought of Mr. H, and she said, "He's cool. And his class isn't boring."
I asked her how she thought he was better than her previous teachers. She answered, "I understand what he teaches. He says stuff in a way that's more understandable. If I don't understand it, he helps me until I do."
The third person I interviewed, was Daizy J. (seventh grade). Again, I asked her what she thought of Mr. H, and she said, "He's awesome.'' When I asked her how he was better then other teachers, she said, "He's way nicer, and has a lot more grace."
I asked her how in the world would he be worse than other teachers, and she said, "I can never tell when he's telling the truth, or just joking."
One thing she would like to say to Mr. H is, "You are my favorite teacher."
The fourth person I interviewed, was Max E. (seventh grade). He says that he is a good teacher. The way that he says he is better than other teachers is that he is a guy. When I asked him how he was worse than his previous teachers, he said,"He isn't."
Then I decided to interview a new student. His name is Sabastian (Sabby for short). He is in seventh grade. I asked him what he thought of Mr. H, and he said, "He's cool." When I asked him how he was better than his teachers at his previous school and he answered with, "He is peaceful."
Next, I interviewed some eighth graders.
First, I interviewed Jake Z. I asked him the same group of questions, and he said, "Mr. H is a really cool teacher. It's nice to have a guy teacher." When I asked him how he was better than his previous teachers he said, "I like how he does things." He didn't think Mr. H was worse than any of his previous teachers. He said, "He is the best teacher so far." He says, "Thank you," to Mr. Herrera and, "it's nice to have a guy teacher."
The second eighth grader I interviewed, was Blair H. When I asked her what she thought of Mr. Herrera, she gave me a thumbs up, with a wide smile on her face. She likes his humor, but when I asked her how he was worse than his previous teachers she said,"Sometimes it's hard to tell if he's kidding or not." To Mr. H, she says, "Thank you for everything that you do."
I decided I would like Mr. Herrera to know what I think of him, so I "interviewed" myself. I think Mr. Herrera has both mercy and grace, but disciplines whenever necessary. The way he is better, is that he is not as strict, but still controls the class. In my opinion, he is not worse than the other teachers in any way. Thank you Mr. Herrera for showing that you want me to do good in school. You rock!
