Looking for fame and fortune? While writing for your high school news website won’t make you rich, but it could make you famous. Submit your articles, features and editorials and we will post what’s good for all the world to see on the Internet.
You’ll get a byline (your name at the top of the story) along with a whole lot of gratitude from this staff.
How easy is it? Check out Hannah Ingram’s story about tomorrow’s band concert. Hannah used information supplied in an e-mail from band director Daryl Balseiro to create this article in just one class period.
She and her Business English classmates took part in a competition to see who could produce the most interesting article in less than one hour. Classmates selected hers from among nine submissions.
What do you have to do to be a correspondent for The Paw Print? It is as easy as sending an e-mail to newspaper adviser Mrs. Lisa Yinger at lyinger@bigspring.k12.pa.us.
Send story ideas or completed drafts. The newspaper staff will edit submissions to conform to newspaper style and standards – we don’t expect you to know that stuff. But if you want to learn, we’ll teach you.
You should do your best to include accurate and complete information, but don’t worry that your work must be perfect. We are in the business of editing copy.
If you want some suggestions, start here.
· Write about what you know or want to learn about
· Ask lots of questions and take good notes
· Provide contact information for any follow-up questions we may have
· Be sure to include any details that caught your attention
· Quotes and pictures make a story more interesting
Writing can be a very rewarding hobby or career. You don’t have to be in the newspaper class to give it a try. Paw Print would love to hear from you.
