At-a-glance

As Thanksgiving approaches, Loudoun Interfaith Relief has partnered with the Holiday Coalition to obtain canned food donations in an effort to bring Thanksgiving dinners to less fortunate families in Loudoun County.

Thanksgiving dinner donations were requested from high schools like Briar Woods, as well as anyone willing to volunteer. Donations ranged from cranberry sauce and sweet potatoes to $10-15 grocery store gift cards to help purchase a turkey.

Loudoun Interfaith Relief said they are planning to distribute food to about 2,000 families. Distribution is scheduled for November 19-21.

Distributions will be handled at the Loudoun Interfaith Relief Center at 750 Miller Drive, Suite A-1 in Leesburg (off Sycolin Road near the Leesburg Airport). Pick up dates are based on the first letter of one’s last name.

For example, last names A-I will collect 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday, November 19; J-R Saturday, 9 a.m.- 5p.m. November 20; and S-Z noon until 4 p.m. Sunday, November 21.

The Loudoun Interfaith Relief and Holiday Coalition’s waiting rooms can only accommodate 50 people at one time, and they will make a strong effort to move quickly; however, people may have to wait outside, so they should dress appropriately.

Whether you are a Briar Woods student in need of volunteer hours or a family in need, Loudoun Interfaith Relief and the Holiday Coalition are here to help.
