Who knew so much fuss over work-out pants could get Loudoun County riled up?

Rumors, circulating over the internet, spread like wildfire through Loudoun County Public Schools over the prohibition of yoga pants in the dress code.

Yoga pants are made of spandex, form-fitting, and typically worn as lounge wear. Becoming very popular for their comfortableness and slimming designs, yoga pants decorate the hallways of Briar Woods High School on the bodies of many female students.

Rumors of banning these pants began in Fairfax and Prince William County. Schools like Battlefield High School of Haymarket VA., have already prohibited the exercise pants for breaking the no "excessively tight and form-fitting" clothes clause of the student dress code.
As for Loudoun County, the rumors prove to be false.

"Anything you see take with fault," said Wayde B. Byard, public information officer of Loudoun County Public Schools, "no moves have been made in Loudoun County to ban them."

Dress code policies are not dictated by the county, and currently no school district has made any effort to prohibit the pants.

"There is no district wide ban. Dress code bans are made at the building level; We have no control over it," said Byard.

Students took up arms over social networks creating Facebook pages, and tweets with hash tag #SaveTheYogaPants. 'There is no @LCPSOfficial ban on yoga pants/leggings,' was tweeted off the official Loudoun County Public Schools page on December 12 to put a stop to the growing hysteria among students.

"I really don't see the problem with yoga pants, and they're no different from skinny jeans or leggings," said junior, Taylor Hill.

Today, yoga pants remain at large, and plan to stay around for awhile due to students’ defensive hold on them.
