For 2009 graduates, getting into college is a hard mountain to climb. There was a record number of applicants nation wide, and getting accepted is becoming progressively harder.
Tthe 2009 graduating class at Webutuck High School broke previous records. The number of seniors who applied to college reached an all time high. Actually, students this year each applied to a lot more schools than usual.
Universities and liberal arts colleges have upped their admission standards, but Webutuck students have amplified their own standards as well.
Senior Connor Lynch is currently in the lead for receiving the most acceptance letters. Connor has been granted admission to seven out of seven of the colleges he applied to. “After the first one, I was relieved. I never want to go to high school again. Getting into college makes you want to go right away.” Connor has been accepted by Siena College, Rutgers University, Western New England College, Utica College, SUNY Albany, Southern Connecticut State College and East Stroudsburg University.
Jesse Fretwell takes second in the admission letter count with four acceptances, and other seniors including Keely McCaffrey, Lauren Trotter, Alex Murphy, Coriine Salazar, Kayla Calderelli, Matthew Kravchuck, Casey Brady, Jessica Renaldi, Katelyn Cullinan, Jaime Laliberte, and Jimmy Robertson received invitations to various colleges.
Meanwhile, the countdown to the May 1st decision deadline continues.
