Both the concert choir and the a capella groups performed at the annual POPS concert on Sunday, May 16. The concert choir started off the evening singing and dancing to "Your Mama Don’t Dance," followed by "The River," "Take a Chance on Me," "Beauty and the Beast" and finished with a reprise of "Your Mama Don’t Dance." Next, the a capella group performed "On Broadway" and "Les Mis," and they ended the evening’s performance with portions from the musical "The Phantom of the Opera," which was also acted out. Playing the major roles were Travis Neuber as the Phantom, Kendra Kobs as Christine, and Shaun Buechel as Raoul.
Hannah Verrier, a freshman, who was in attendance, said, "I thought the singing was very good."
Following the a capella group’s performance, all of the solo & ensemble participants were recognized, and both the concert choir and a capella groups gave certain members awards based on leadership, talent and participation. Hunter Moore, freshman, who received the a capella underclassmen leadership award, said, "It’s an honor to be recognized by my classmates."
