I’m sure everyone is sick of hearing about all the negatives of our economy today. But what about the positives? Have you heard anyone say how the bad economy can have a good effect on a house hold? Or how it can make people have a different outlook on life? Well that’s what I’m going to present to you. The positives in such a negative time.
When someone loses a job or their working hours are cut back it is tragic in that household. But that family will soon find out that this allows them to spend more time together as a family, time they wouldn’t have otherwise.
The saving of money in households also can make people be creative, doing new activities that don’t cost as much.
For example, instead of traveling to the movie theater, spending money on gas, movie tickets and overly priced concessions, a family can go out and rent a movie or even get pay per view and buy their own popcorn. This saves a lot of money, plus you get a larger quantity of popcorn AND you get to view the movie out of the comfort of your own home, not having to deal with the loud middle school kids who giggle throughout the whole movie, or the young couple who can’t keep their hands off each other.
Cutting back on spending can also reestablish the forgotten tradition of eating together every night. When people don’t have the money to constantly buy fast food they resort to the good ol’ home cooking. Not only is this usually healthier for you, the family can actually sit down and eat together instead of eating on the run. This will help renew bonds with family members that have been lost throughout the years.
Helping the environment is another awesome benefit of cutting back. People are saving energy and money by turning off the lights, turning down the heat or air conditioning, turning off electronic devices such as computers when they aren’t being used, and driving less to save gas. Not only does all this cutting back add up, its making all the polar bears happy as well.
Now you have had a breath of fresh air, and you are realizing that this economic struggle is not all bad.
Everyday look for the positives in this rotten time. You’ll be surprised at what you find.
