Students can still feel safe this year in the hallways while Warren Johnson is on the job. Last year Jackson lost funding for city Police Warren Johnson, Johnson is on the job. He is one of the new members joining the security team, as well as being as a part-time police officer on the weekends. “Mr. Johnson brings a lot of professionalism to Jackson High,” hall monitor Subba Reddy said. “His experience of being a police officer, EMT, and firefighter brings big advantages to the school.”
Going from working on the streets of Jackson to the high school is a big transition, but Johnson is doing his best to adjust. While working at Jackson High as a security guard, he still works part-time as a Napoleon police officer. He says working in a high school and on the streets has a lot of differences.
“There are a lot of differences between them. At Jackson High I am limited to just the building and in the field I go all over Jackson,” said Johnson. “Also, refusing to show an ID at Jackson High could get you in the principals office. On the streets you can be forced to show your ID and refusal could end in jail.”
His presence is appreciated by other members of the security team.
“Mr. Johnson brings assurance to the school and I really enjoy working with him,” head of security hall supervision David Rodriquez said.
Good atmosphere, good people, diversity and excellent staff are some of the principles that Johnson uses to describe his work experience at Jackson High School. Johnson is quick to say that he is a proud alum, and knows a lot of people at the school.
“I have good relationships with the students and staff, and I believe Jackson High is an excellent place to be.” Johnson said.
