Stacy McTaggart: Female Athlete of the Year Nominee
Advertising
Some people live and breathe sports. And it is no different with the amazing athletes at Rocklin High. This year there are many nominees for female and male athlete of the year. One of our female nominees for the year of 2010 is Stacy McTaggart. Stacy plays water polo in the fall, basketball in the winter, and softball in the spring. Stacy does a great job of keeping her grades up year-round, so that she can be eligible to participate in her games. She’s a hard-working athlete and takes her academics seriously. She knows that school comes first, and that she needs to be eligible to be able to compete in games. Stacy has been playing sports ever since she was little, and has been a three-sport athlete since her freshmen year of high school. "If I won female athlete of the year, I would feel extremely honored and happy. There are so many great athletes at our school, so just to be nominated is an honor," said McTaggart. A few years ago, Stacy’s brother, AJ McTaggart, won male athlete of the year. "When I saw my brother win male athlete of the year and my sister get nominated, it made me really want to work hard in the sports I play so that when it was my senior year, I could possibly get nominated," A couple years later after AJ graduated, Stacy’s sister, Laura McTaggart, was nominated for female athlete of the year, but unfortunately didn’t win. Laura did water polo in the fall and softball in the spring. Now the last sibling of the McTaggart family is currently a senior and has a shot at becoming the 2010 female athlete of the year. "There isn’t any serious pressure from my family to win athlete of the year. It’s more of my family just messing around with me, but now that I am nominated I don’t feel any more 'pressure' from them," said McTaggart. Stacy is an amazing athlete and gives 100%. She is a leader on and off the field, always encourages her teammates, and she has a great opportunity at winning 2010 female athlete of the year.
