Sadies Hears a Seuss
Advertising
The Sadie Hawkin’s Dance this year sold over 500 tickets and provided the fresh idea of the Dr. Seuss-inspired theme.  This theme allowed groups of friends to come up with original and funky outfits for the dance, with multiple “Things 1 and 2,” “Sneetches,” and of course the “Cat in the Hat.”  However, being a traditionally bring-a-date-dance, some people ignored the innocence of this theme and got kicked out for “freak-dancing.”
Around 10:30, Mr. Thompson turned on the lights and stopped the music, saying that he had “... kicked out five couples in the last half hour...” and threatened to play music with hardly a beat or end the dance right then if students continued to act inappropriately.  After some complaint and promises, the students were able to convince Thompson to continue the dance as it had been going.
There was no further conflict, and the dance continued smoothly.  Everyone got free Tops frozen yogurt, a delicious addition to the night.  All-in-all, it was a successful final dance of the year.
