We are honored to announce Mrs. Ave Jack as the 2008 - 2009 Teacher of the Year for Riverchase. In a recent interview, Mrs. Jack expressed gratitude as she said "I'm honored that my fellow teachers selected me to represent RMS." Isn't she a humble teacher and to make her even more humble she said that she thought that another teacher was going to win because RMS has some excellent teachers.

Apparently the students were really happy with the decision because they started cheering and clapping when they heard the news. To show appreciation for her contribution, she received flowers from the administration.

Mrs. Jack has been teaching for four years and is currently serving her 5th year as a math teacher. Prior to teaching, she was a systems analyst and an industrial engineer. She switched to teaching was because she wanted to help young people. She offers advice to new teachers: "be flexible and have a sense of humor."

For a more personal aspect of her life she has a husband of 26 years and they have no children. Congratulations Mrs. Jack! Join her Oak Mountain High School in November as she receives her award.
