The future seems like yesterday with all the new technology and updates appearing almost every four months. What seemed impossible is turning into everyday life.

Google has been working on a new form of technology, a pair of glasses that allows you to actually reduce the use of technology and have more free time. These stylish, hands free glasses allow you to video chat, take pictures, and even use Google location to get around. The futuristic device might be referred to as glasses, but look far from it. In fact, this device sits on your head just above your eyes like a head band and has empty lenses.

The glasses allow you to receive information to the lenses and even check the weather. Voice activated controls allow you to video chat and access commands. Taking pictures is also a hands free move when you just look at the image you want and demand a picture or video.

Google released a video of how the glasses work and how useful they can be. The video starts when a man wakes up and before his eyes he checks the weather and sends and receives texts from his friends. He tries to use the subway station but immediately gets rerouted when a popup in the corner of his eye alerts him that the subway is out of service. The video ends with the man video chatting with his girlfriend and sharing his view of the city with her through his glasses.

Many believe that society is not ready for information continuously streaming to us, and that if this does become a success it will disrupt everyday life and cause people to be distracted constantly. Only the future can tell. Google does not yet know exactly when the glasses will be ready; one thing we do know is that it will create a huge impact on us all.

the google glasses are a very interesting topic. and i love the quote "The future seems like yesterday with all the new technology and updates appearing almost every four months." it really seems as if technology is advancing too fast. I liked the descrition of the video.

I know for a fact that, if I had those glasses, I'd probably trip twice as much as I trip now... The idea itself is interesting, but I have a feeling that everythign will be mucked up by it. We'll be...worse, I guess. My 5 year old cousin has a blackberry. I don't want to know what a childhood would be like once those are invented.
