Regent’s week is a time for test and a time for seniors to just relax, which they like to do a lot lately. New York state is the only state that gives there students a test that contains information from the whole year. The test is usually harder and preps you for the SAT and ACT(s). They're not like your regular weekly test that are only of what you have been learning for that time period. The New York State Regents Test is from the whole year sometimes even two years combined into one test. Without passing these State tests you will not be able to move onto the next grade of that class as well as graduate. The test has multiple parts and consists of three hours of test taking. Since these tests are so important to all of the students, during the time these tests are administered students do not have to come to school for a regular school day. Students that take the tests only come to school for that test. The school is cleared out so students can concentrate as much as possible. Not only does it test your test taking ability, these tests also show how well you did the whole year(s). If you have cheated your way through the year or only put half the energy into the class, in the end it will show how well you paid attention. These tests keep students on point and make it better for our future, this is a reason why New York is the way it is, we always have our own way of doing things.
