The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats earn a run-away win against Metcalfe
County, defeating the Hornets 69-50. The Wildcats were without their
starting guard, junior Mickey Lewis, who tore his ACL against Barren
County.
The Wildcats dominated on both sides of the court, outscoring the
Hornets in every quarter and also outrebounding them. The Wildcats
also culminated 13 steals throughout the entire game, where sophomore
guard Jalen Bell and junior forward Terry Bryant contributed 5 steals
apiece. The Hornets were outrebounded 37-27. Franklin-Simpson played
exceptionally well on the offensive glass, with 17 offensive rebounds
and 13 second-chance points. The Hornets were simply out-hustled in
every major statistic.
"We shot well and played really good defense," stated Assistant
Coach Derfra Holt. "Our defense has carried us the whole year. Our
guys work really hard in practice and it shows in the games."
Bryant was the leading scorer with 16 points, while also
contributing 6 rebounds. Senior center Jim Murphree added 14 points
and 5 rebounds, and sophomore forward Jerron Patterson added 10
points.
