On January 31, the twelve varsity cheerleaders competed in their second competition of the year. They participated in the MusicJam JamFest Competition in Nashville. They took first place in Level 3 Varsity Cheer Non-Spring Floor division. They improved greatly from the first competition that they competed in this year, where they took second place.
"We did really good to have not had practice the whole week leading up to Saturday. I was excited about our first place finish," said Junior Lindsey Traughbor.
Their scheduled practices and games were cancelled due to extreme weather. Out of desperation, they managed to snag a short practice after school on Friday the 30th.
"I started cheering since middle school, and this is the first time I've ever placed first. I was so happy that everything went so well, and we were awarded the top spot!" said Kelsey Patterson.
JamFest will end the competition season for the cheerleaders this year, but everyone was happy with the great performances at both competitions. A second and a first place win are awesome ways to end the year.
