The lighting of candles brilliantly symbolizes both light and radiance and so it is fitting that the task figures so prominently in the National Honor Society’s (NHS) Induction Ceremony. Recently, the BHS branch inducted twenty-eight new members and announced the following new officers for the 2010-2011 school year: president Aimee Denham, vice-president Jeannie Muench, treasurer Thomas Martinez, secretary Megan Moran, historian Kelsey Dyes and parliamentarian Samantha Mitchell.
The ceremony was highlighted by the presentation of blue and gold flowers to NHS sponsors Ginger Postert and Patsy Small. The blue and gold flowers are the same colors as NHS and were presented by this year’s past president senior Danny Mills.
“Everything went beautifully and we’d like to thank Travis Caza and the entire custodial staff for helping out with the light and sound and generally setting things up perfectly,” Postert said.
“We also need to think Ginger Hale’s Food Science students for graciously making cookies and serving punch, which just capped off the evening,” Small said.
The following students earned NHS selection this year: senior Katelyn Hayes, juniors Ttory Capes, Kurtis Jennings, David Kassai, Emily King, Dustin Lindner, Dakota Lopez, Mason Palmer, Taylor Shackelford and sophomores Kayla Berger, Vanessa Bernal, Daniele Churchman, Stephanie Everitt, Georgia Folds, Brynn Hicks, Brittany Horvath, Cory Lee, Katie Mangold, Samuel Marines, Grecia Mendoza, Kilee Morris, Amber Neal, Zeanna Rivera, Ashley Sowards, Alexis Torres, Morgan Van Dyne, Jennifer Widner and Gina Zavorka.
