(March 14, 2008) -- Sophomores William Shaler, Narek Grigoryan and junior Angela Hovsepyan fell into the long line outside the Staples Center, eager to see a concert by Linkin Park. They were among the many Clark students who attended this KROQ-sponsored concert on March 4, 2008, featuring Linkin Park, Chiodos, and Coheed and Cambria. "The line was long, but since the Staples Center was set up well, it went pretty fast," Grigoryan said.

Those who arrived at the concert hall early lounged about, eating, drinking and texting. A hardcore few cheered when Chiodos finally took to the stage. Few in the audience joined in the cheer. Chiodos played their best hits, but had little effect on the audience. "They played really well, but I think the venue was too big for them," Shaler said.

Chiodos conducted a meet and greet afterwards, allowing their fans to obtain autographs and take pictures with the band. Hovsepyan was able to take a picture with the lead singer of Chiodos. "They were so great, I loved them," she said.

After a 15-minute break, the stage was set and ready for the next band to play: Coheed and Cambria. By then, more people were in the concert hall, and more were cheering for them. They also played their best hits, drawing applause from the audience. "The best song was ‘Welcome Home,’" Shaler said. However, they did not conduct a meet and greet as Chiodos did.

After an eternity, or so it seemed to Shaler, Grigoryan and Hovsepyan, Linkin Park finally took the stage. It took 45 grueling minutes to set up the stage. The lights dimmed, all except for the dark blue stage lights. Music began to play in the darkness, the introduction from "What I’ve Done." The tune drew a deafening roar from the crowd, as the fans cheered for the performance they were waiting for. The lights came back on, and the band members were raised from the stage.

Linkin Park played almost all of their hit songs, involving the audience into their performance. "They got us to sing along," Grigoryan said. "They’re really comfortable on the stage." Linkin Park played songs like "Papercut," "Numb," "In the End,"
"Breaking the Habit," and ended with "Faint," after their double encore. "The concert was so well orchestrated. The sound was amazing, the lights were integrated with the music. It was stunning," Hovsepyan said.

Apparently, Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda, Linkin Park’s singers, were still sick. "That’s why they let the crowd sing some of the intense parts, so he didn’t have to strain himself. They were still awesome though," Grigoryan said. "Chester and Mike gave 110 percent on the stage."
