Thursday, February 26, 2009 By Nick Lee - Anahid Yahjian Advertising Creative writing class enjoys listening to professional writer (January 26, 2007) -- Maral Guarino’s Creative Writing class had the pleasure of listening to a professional radio commercial writer. Fran Tunno Mills was full of energy, or rather, insanity. “You have to be a bit of a maniac to do this job,” she said. She talked about the colleagues she worked with, describing them as “insane,” a complement directed at their creative talent. Mills never went long without cracking up the class with a clever joke –she clearly had a mind suited for radio.Mills wanted to play some of her commercials using the computer at the January 4th presentation, but she had technical difficulties. Junior George Balayan assisted with the computer, getting it to play the audio correctly. Mills’ commercials were varied –one advertised a laser hair removal clinic. “If you are a ham and love having fun,” Mills smiled, “Advertising is cool.” Some of the commercials she played for the class are posted on her website, www.frantunno.com.
