(October 27, 2011)-- Last week, Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi joined his former counterparts, Saddam Hussein and Bin Laden. Libyans flocked the streets as they rejoiced the gruesome death of their former dictator.

Libya, just like Iraq, is now a free country, ready to embrace the fruits of democracy. Or so does the simple mind think.

From our Western point of view, a dictator is the worst thing that can happen to a country. The West tries to constantly spread its political philosophies and implement democracy and freedom in third world countries.

Trying to make these countries democratic is going to create such a paradigm shift that the people in those countries simply won’t be able to embrace the idea of democracy the way we do.

This is the problem: the principles of democracy are not in accordance with the real world.

What are some key elements of democracy? Equality of both genders is one. Does the Middle East have equality between both genders?

Freedom of religion is another element of democracy. The Middle East is so single-mindedly focused on one religion that they are intolerable to all others. How can that be acceptable in a "democratic" country?

Are we going to redefine democracy? Are we going to take out freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of press … freedom of living like a constituent of a true democracy?

It’s not just enough to have a "president" or a parliament. What good is that—just the idea that some guy doesn’t rule indefinitely? The "democratic" nation of Iran also has a president.

Simply put, that region does not have the cultural capacity to sustain democracy. Just like oxygen is needed to sustain fire, secularism is needed to sustain democracy.
Already, the political parties in Iraq are defined by the two leading Islamic factions.

Gaddafi’s bloodied "trophy" body has become a tourist attraction. Where do you see that in a 21st century democratic country? Do you honestly—honestly—believe that that country is going to turn into some peace-loving democratic country?

The problem isn’t a flawed government. The problem is a flawed mindset. Unfortunately, the latter cannot be amended by the overthrow of some guy.

The reason why America is still a democracy is because the American defines democracy, demands democracy, and fights for democracy. Will a Libyan or an Iraqi citizen have the faculties required to carry out those tasks? No.

The only practical way to govern a culturally undeveloped nation is through the use of a dictator. Yes it looks wrong, it sounds wrong, and it probably is wrong. But Gaddafi managed to control all the tribes and establish peace. Are those tribes going to unite under democracy? The word "tribe" is enough to answer that question.

What we’ve created in Iraq isn’t democracy; it’s hypocrisy. It’s a disgrace to the meaning of democracy. The west should be ashamed of prostituting such sacred philosophy. And what are we going to get in return? Look at what we got in return from Afghanistan. Those newly converted "democracies" will produce a generation of anti-Americans who will soon forget where they would have been without the West, in particular the USA.
