Say your goodbyes to the seniors, the Class of 2009.

Even though there are sixty-four seniors, the majority of the student body can contest they’re the loudest in the halls and stairwells. Still, there’s several ways that the seniors have made a positive impact on the school.

Junior Krystal Padmore suggested, “The seniors are a fun class and seem to get their work done anyway, no matter who they are.”

This is true for collective decisions from the whole class such as forms to have a say in prom or within a small number to decorate their ring day pamphlets.

Also, the Class of 2009 has asked the administration to change the site of the senior trip after some seniors called this year’s site horrific. Class of 2010, if your senior class trip is changed from the ranch, then it’s because of this year’s senior class.

Also, this senior class seemed to take the initiative in altering SJHS’s uniforms.  Even those who complained about it and thought it was an unnecessary change at first became quiet once the first weeks of school began.  The new uniform makes the student body looks neater and gives more uniformity.  Besides the occasional different color shirt under the uniform shirts that show and the short skirts, the new uniforms are a neutral to positive change.

With any high school class, the Class of 2009 has very strong personalities and different attitudes towards staff, faculty, and underclassmen.

Sophomore Felicia Ramsewak’s take on the senior class was, overall, positive. “The senior class act differently when they’re alone and with their friends, but most of the time either way, they’re real genuine,” she said.

This senior class has endured a number of changes, from a large number of incoming and leaving students during junior year and during other semesters.  Senior Nicole Couchman concurred, and added, “We do welcome with open arms.” For some incoming students, the transition wasn’t “easy as pie” right away, but at some point or another it was successful.

As the senior class of 2009 walk across the stage and graduate on June 6, give them your blessings, and they’ll give you insight for your senior year.
