Ms. Baylock, Religion Department
New year. New schedules. New teachers. One new teacher this year at SJHS is Ms. Trudy Baylock.

She teaches religion to the sophomores and two freshmen classes. Krystal Huertas, a sophomore, says, “Ms. Baylock is friendly, fun, open- hearted, understanding, and a great joy to have as our new religion studies teacher.”

You can find Ms. Baylock in homeroom 604, teaching World Religions and Christianity.
Ms. Baylock has been teaching for over 20 years. Before coming to SJHS, she taught at a co-ed high school in Staten Island. In her years of teaching, she has lived in Spain and Puerto Rico and taught English as a second language.

A freshman, Ashley Baptiste says, “(Ms. Baylock) is really nice and her class is fun.”

One of Ms. Baylock’s favorite quotes for students is from Eleanor Roosevelt: “A woman is like a teabag; you don’t know what she is made of until she hits hot water.”

It basically means that you find out who you are after dealing with hard times. She uses this quote because it means women are strong.
