Kanye Shocks at VMAs! Beyonce Gives Taylor Spotlight

Everybody’s eyes were glued to their TV sets on September 13th, 2009, watching the VMAs, which aired live from Radio City Music Hall. The most memorable moment was when Kanye West ran on stage and grabbed the mic from Taylor Swift, while she was accepting the Moon Man (award) for Best Female Video.

“I think that he wasn’t wrong for speaking his mind, but it wasn’t an appropriate time!” said Jady Lopez, sophomore.

Ghaliya Taylor, freshman, said: “I think he should’ve kept his thoughts to himself, it wasn’t that serious!”

Everyone was shocked and Kanye lost a lot of respect over the incident. Afterwards, he apologized to Taylor and said that he was going to take time off. However, there was a shining moment for Taylor after all.

When Beyoncé was accepting her Moon Man for Video Of The Year, her acceptance speech contained these words: “I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV award with Destiny’s Child, and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life, so I would like for Taylor to come out and have her moment.”

Taylor Swift gracefully walked up to the stage and finished her acceptance speech. “I love Beyoncé for that,” said Crystal Santos, freshman.

i think Kanye West was wrong to do what he did, he shouldnt have done that he should accept what happens happpen. If Taylor won, let her enjoy her win dont make her cry on her big win, he could have waited until he got home and blogged about it on Twitter or Myspace or those celebrities blog websites.

I wanna say that Kanye was right and wrong at the sametime, because he was wrong for just coming up on the stage and taking the mic from taylor, but then again im not gonna lie it was funny to me in a way, but kanye was right because i felt that single ladies deserved an award!! BUT REALLY BEYONCE HAD 1 OF THE BEST VIDEOS OF ALL-TIME!!

I think Kanye West is ignorant of other peoples feeling because of his actions he publicly embarrassed someone on nation television which instead he should've kept his opinions to him self. I think what beyonce had done was very condersiderate because she gaved Taylor Swift one more chance to make in appearance.

I think Kanye was wrong because he's a grown man running on stage taking the mic from a 17 year old girl like rude. also he brought the mood down because i think the night was suppose to be about Michael Jackson and that was no more when Kanye decided to run up on stage.But Beyonce ended the night in a very classy way.

I felt bad for Taylor Swift and Kanye was very mean. I like how Beyonce was nice enough to that for Taylor. I think the whole situation though is boring like I would expect that from Kanye, it's no shocker to me.

I think that Kanye West is a bit too much and he shouldn't have done what he did. Beyonce cant win all the time and he should of let Taylor Swift have her time. I think that it was very generous of Beyonce to give Taylor Swift the time to accept her award.

I think Knaye West was right because he does have freedom of speech but then again he been saying foul comments for a while now somebody need to teach him a lesson.

Kanye West is great at what he do and so is beyonce but it was time for someone else to take thhe spotlight and everyone should have accepted that even Kanye West. what he did was really wrong because I know hw wolud not like if that had happened to him.

That was wonderful n poise of Beyonce to do that for Taylor Swift, to step up for her in a time of need went need and that role model of the youger.As for Kanye. he he need to stop the child-like behavior because at the end its going to hurt him.

I thought that what Kanye West did was wrong, also. But not only was he wrong his actions basically speak for him and it also influences others who do enjoy his music. They'll think its o.k. to perform actions like that. Beyonce acted very lady-like and helped decrease the tension in the situation.

I think Kanye was right in a way. Because thats his opion and thats what he is entitled to do . BUT ! AT THE SAME TIME . Mr. West You & I both know your mother did not raise you like that. And you were being very disrepectful .Shaken my head at you .

I thought this was a good article because teens like drama/gossip, and it was very interesting. I agree with Ashley, it was nice of Beyonce to let Taylor Swift get her time to shine.
